After a busy July, Celtic Speed moved to the next event, all the way to California to the amazing Laguna Seca venue for the Monterey Classic. This event is America’s version of the Silverstone Classic and it combines a week of motorsport at Laguna Seca with the Pebble Beach car shows and auctions. It really is a huge event attracting people from all over the world.

The car of choice for Celtic Speed was the March 761 which made it’s journey to America after the Monaco Historic meeting back in May. Tommy Dreelan was looking forward to the event, after his first outing there last year. In qualifying he improved immediately on his time from 2015 and during the 2 races had some great battles with some of the European and American contingent. He also set his fastest lap of the week 2 laps from the finish.

Following Laguna Seca, the team travelled back to Europe and on to Zandvoort in Holland for another Historic F1 race. Zandvoort is a famous race track, host of many GP’s back in the 70’s and a popular track amongst competitors. Tommy drove the Williams FW08 for this race and it was to be his best weekend to date with this car, the ex Keke Rosberg World Championship winning car. Tommy set the 9th fastest time out of 26 entries, 4th in class and went on to finish the races in 11th and 9th place overall and 4th in class for both races. He also improved his best lap time at the circuit by over a second from 2015.

The next event for the team will be in Paul Ricard, South of France, for the final race of the Group C Championship. Tommy lies second in the overall championship standings and the team have an opportunity to win the Championship so it’s all to play for. Watch this space.
